Research Initiatives

Where our work sits beyond the tools: the questions we're pursuing, the data we're building against, and the Notes that develop each line of inquiry.

AIM Research runs five open research initiatives. Each is a line of inquiry — not a product — pursued through analysis, writing, and open tooling. The Notes under each initiative are the public record of the thinking so far.

Clinical Research Ecosystem — Supply, Demand, Capacity

Status · Active

Where clinical trial demand is heading, where capacity isn't keeping up, concurrent trial load per site, and the workforce behind execution. Quantitative work on the US and global trial ecosystem using ClinicalTrials.gov/AACT, FDA approvals, and public funding sources.

International Trial Infrastructure

Status · Active · Publications forthcoming

Site intelligence and capacity analysis outside the United States. First-pass work focuses on Brazil (integrating DATASUS public-health data with ClinicalTrials.gov) and the broader Latin American research landscape — mapping where studies are conducted, by whom, and at what scale, in markets where published site data is sparse.

Analytical outputs expected 2026–2027. Interim findings will appear in Notes as they are completed.

Patient Access & Privacy

Status · Active

Patient recruitment, matching, and retention; privacy regulations and consent systems; patient relationship management; and the design of trial communications that respect patient autonomy. Where clinical research meets the people who make it possible.

Trial Modeling & Simulation

Status · Active · Models published alongside tools

The methodology and models behind our open tools — enrollment simulation, speed-vs-access life-years modeling, scenario comparison, synthetic controls, and digital twins. We publish the models so that assumptions can be examined, criticized, and improved.

Policy & Diversity

Status · Active

Regulatory analysis, HHS and FDA guidance, Diversity Action Plans, and administration transitions. How the policy environment shapes what trials get run, who can participate, and under what rules.
